Richard has spent nearly 40 years in the construction industry, in locations as far flung as Shetland Islands in the North Sea, to Hong Kong, on the New Airport Railway. In between he has worked on projects in Nigeria, Oman and New Zealand, before joining Evans and Peck in 1998. During this time overseas, Richard gained extensive project and construction management experience on projects as diverse as oil jetties, railways, hospitals, an air base, a high court, restaurants and factories. His experience was gained largely on site, working for both the Principal and the contractor.
Richard has specialised in the contractual advisory role through all stages of construction, including delivery methods, tender documentation, risk assessment, tender analysis, contract administration and claims management, using a variety of standard and bespoke contracts.
He has provided specialist Expert Reports as part of litigation support and has been involved in various forms of ADR including mediation, arbitration and litigation. His particular focus has been on road and rail infrastructure projects for the government, but his experience encompasses mining, power stations and commercial structures. He has fulfilled roles including Superintendent's Representative, Design Manager, Construction Manager and Contracts Manager, working on major projects such as the Gateway Bridge Duplication and Moreton Bay Rail Project.
Richard was a Principal of Evans & Peck at the time of his departure; he is a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland and also a graded Arbitrator.
